I am delighted to find myself settled in beautiful Taranaki!
Raised by a sporty family, movement was a big part of my childhood. Mum played netball and dad excelled in athletics, cricket and rugby, representing Canterbury and the Junior All Blacks. My brother is an accomplished open water swimmer, swimming some of the most challenging courses around the world.
I tried Pilates while living in Canada and was immediately hooked. I loved how precise and thoughtful exercises were, not to mention the obvious results achieved by moving in such an intentional way.
Continuing my Pilates practice in Perth, I was invited to undertake the Comprehensive Polestar Pilates Qualification - one of the most stringent courses available today. Taking two years to complete and requiring over 240 hours of physical practice, I became qualified and experienced in teaching on all traditional Pilates equipment.
Movementor Pilates in Christchurch was my first home studio and since then, I have taught at numerous studios in Australia and New Zealand.
I founded Thrive Pilates Wellington City in 2017, then in 2021 I opened Thrive Pilates Petone. These studios fulfilled the need for high end, boutique Reformer Pilates in the Wellington region - be sure to visit them if you are ever in Wellington!
My style has evolved over the years. With roots in a relatively traditional Pilates method, I will always retain the key principals of Pilates. I now describe my style as traditional, with a contemporary twist. I believe in quality over quantity but also like to keep your experience fun and not-so-serious.
I enjoy working with all body shapes, though find greatest satisfaction when clients are willing to challenge themselves and be open to expanding any limitations (often these are mental).
